75 x 10 x 9 in
191 x 25 x 23 cm

Ceramic with inscribed writing, oxides, stains, with a steel and concrete base. Steel base plate is 14" square.

Inspired by a friend who studies the writings and poetry of Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet and Sufi mystic, Jane Burton's writings found on this sculpture are based on Rumi's poems. The sculpture is titled after the following poem, one of Burton's favorites:

This We Have Now

This we have now
is not imagination.

This is not
grief or joy.

Not a judging state,
or an elation,
or sadness.

Those come and go.
This is the presence that doesn't.
